On 9 January 2009, the cancer site of Cancerstory.com became dormant.
However, the web contents can still be read like a book without further update.

Thank You Message from the Founder of CancerStory.com

Thank You!

Dear Voters

We would like to thank all voters who had given us the support in raising awareness of CancerStory.com in the Asian Internet Awards 2001 competition, organized by BusinessOnline & Visa International.

CancerStory.com was awarded the BOL Readers' Choice Award 2001 at the Awards Ceremony held in Hongkong on 29 June 2001.

Without your support in this competition, CancerStory.com, a volunteer's initiative with a mission of hosting a non-profit site providing online help for people living with cancer, would not have had the opportunity to reach out to people living in Asia.

Yours sincerely
Lee Soh Hong

CancerStory.com, Winner of BOL Readers' Choice Award 2001

"Despite BusinessOnline magazine's focus on business, business and business, it was a not-for-profit Web site called CancerStory.com that became the surprise package at the first BusinessOnline-Visa Asian Internet Awards announced last Friday night. The votes CancerStory.com received were a triumph of technology for humanity."

About Asian Internet Awards 2001 and BOL Readers' Choice Award 2001

BusinessOnline and Visa Asian Internet Awards acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of talent and expertise on the Internet. This is the first year of a long term commitment by BusinessOnline magazine to identifying and showcasing excellence in business internet applications and services.

In this competition, there were 356 entries from 14 Asian nations competing for the Awards in eight categories.

BOL Readers' Choice Award, the eighth award, is decided by public vote.

CancerStory.com was also chosen by the panel of judges as a semi-finalist of the BusinessOnline and Visa Asian Internet Awards in the Cross Cultural Category. Even though it failed to reach the final, we consider it an achievement as the Cross Cultural category was the most popular category, securing 25 per cent of nominations from 14 Asian countries over the seven (7) Awards categories.
