In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) theory, diseases arise from three types of causes: internal, external, and other causes. The internal cause of disease is emotional imbalance. Emotional imbalances cause aberrations in the movement of qi (energy flow), which in turn, leads to a variety of physical symptoms. As Taiji Quan originated from Taoism's philosophy of "yin-yang theory" and qi (internal vital energy), by learning and practising Taiji Quan, the flow of qi and blood circulation will be smoothened to maintain active metabolism and invigorate the immune system.
Her Taiji Quan's teacher, Mr Wee Kee Jin, a gold medalist in the 1989 World Cup Martial Arts Championship, is one of the four students who had the opportunity to live and study Taiji Quan on a full-time basis(1983-1988) with the late Taiji Quan's Master Huang Sheng Shyan(1910 - 1992), founder of Singapore Tai Chi Association and over 30 Taiji Quan schools throughout South-east Asia.
