A Special Tribute to CancerStory.com's Resource Centre, Humanity & Golden Kids
(11 November 2002 to 30 November 2003)

I would like to share the following extracts from one write-up published in SALT magazine issue no. 2 - "The Missing Hand of Adam Smith" written by Mr Willie Cheng, Chairman of National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre.

"It is possible to have over-funded NPOs with more money than they need, and which can end up being splurged on peripherals.

On the other hand, we could have NPOs serving critical community needs which are unable to find funding to continue. Recently, Humanity and Golden Kids, a non-profit centre run by CancerStory.com which offers complementary cancer treatment methods, closed because funds were short for its operations and publicity efforts."

I likened the fate of Humanity & Golden Kids to that of the legendary phoenix found in ancient literature. On both an individual basis and a broader social level, the image of the rising phoenix reminds us that life is cyclical and change is constant. When the conditions are right, I will make a comeback, with renewed strength, to serve the community again.

However if the phoenix failed to resurrect, the 'peaceful death' of Humanity & Golden Kids will leave behind it, 'footprints of benevolence and compassion' for some like-minded individuals, cancer organizations and institutions that will continue to deliver safe and reliable complementary cancer methods that can help cancer patients to live with dignity and overcome the odds against cancer.

The loving kindness of Humanity & Golden Kids shall live forever in the song, The Legend of HGK, specially composed by Mr Jay Yip who is living in Sydney.

"THE LEGEND OF HGK"

PROLOGUE

The time has come for us to part...
even so, I want you to know that life was never meant to be unkind.
What pain we feel is only passing..,
And it is within us that we choose to live life to its very fullest.

Song:

You see the light
You come inside
The world is cold
And hope feels dead

We've had no choice
But to go on our way
The only thing left
Is for us to pray

Chorus:

So hold your head up high
For our hope will never die
So take your stand and you'll always be
In touch........Alive........in me

You see the light
You come inside
The world is cold
But I'm here to say

My heart is yours
I'll come back one day
To give all I have
Forever more..

Acknowledgement

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Marvin, for rendering the above drawing, and Jay, Peter and Keng for coming up with the beautiful song, The Legend of HGK.
